Facebook Questions opens new world of opportunities for social media marketers.
This week Facebook unveiled Facebook Questions, a Q&A service that allows users to post questions and solicit answers from the millions of people on the site. Facebook Questions is not available to the entire Facebook community yet, but the Q&A service should get plenty of marketers salivating.
Facebook Questions is similar to Yahoo! Answers, Quora and LinkedIn Answers where people can post questions about a topic and receive feedback from users. The difference with Facebook Questions is that it has more than 500 million users at its disposal.
According to the Facebook blog, Facebook Questions will be available for anyone on the Internet to see.
For marketers, Facebook Questions is a unique opportunity to have direct access to Facebook users. Due to privacy settings on profiles, it has become more difficult for marketers to interact with individuals. Now, marketers will be able to talk with Facebook users who are looking for advice on the best cellular phone, car stereo, security system etc.

Facebook Questions can easily become a marketing tool where salespeople can identify and target sales leads. Facebook will use keyword tags to organize questions into different subject categories to make it easy for people, especially marketers, to find the topics of their expertise.
We should note that, like LinkedIn Answers, Facebook Questions is not a place to advertise your products. Facebook will likely moderate the new tool to ensure there are only quality questions and answers.
Facebook Questions is a place to build relationships with potential sales leads where you can share your expertise and rise above the chatter to become a thought leader in your space.
We look forward to the Facebook Questions rollout and its immense potential for marketers.
